Description

you may have noticed i have time on my hands today ;P

I thought I'd practise my animation skills with a simple bouncing emote.

I think he looks pretty natural....something feels a little off, but i'm not sure if i'm just expecting him to stop bouncing because of energy loss or something =P

edit
mucked about with the frames a bit - how's it look now?

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I only just re-found the comments in my inbox today >.>

I agree there's something thats a lil off and after tweeking it in a few places i seem to have found a few ways you could improve it

1) i feel the bounce is too long. It makes it very very smooth but i feel it a bit too unnatural. I'd suggest chopping out frames 15 and 19. It doesn't affect the motion much at all.

2) You could do with adding some motion to the face. When it jumps up make the face look down a couple of pixels and when it falls down make it look up. at either end add a transition in to smooth things out. If you think about it, if you jump you don't constantly have you head looking upwards, and that is whats happening here

3) I don't have much knowledge about the squash and stretch movement but i'm not sure if the stretch sections are in the right place. it looks odd to have the stretches both at the top. If you want an example of a good squash and stretch check out this: [link]
